Many Amazing Things

Many amazing things happen at SPARK. Our child care program is especially designed to ensure the safety and continuous development of children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. Our friendly, experienced staff is trained and ready to take care of your little one. Read on to find out all of the details on SPARK's Little Learners program.

Supervision Plan

  • Staff ratio of no more than 4 children to 1 staff member (6 weeks-3 years) shall be maintained at all times (indoor and outdoor). The group size shall not exceed 8 children.
  • Staff ratio of no more than 10 children to 1 staff member (3-5 years) shall be maintained at all times (indoor and outdoor). The group size shall not exceed 20 children.
  • At least two staff members will be present at the center at all times.
  • Children will be carefully supervised at all times. This includes: toileting, indoor/outdoor play. If a child needs to use the bathroom when they are out on the playground, they will be brought in by a staff member and ratios will be maintained.

Diapering Plan

  • The staff and children will wash their hands thoroughly and dry them with a paper towel
  • The staff will put on protective gloves
  • Child will then be placed on disposable changing paper
  • Soiled diaper will be changed and child will be cleaned with wipes
  • Soiled diaper, wipes and changing paper will be disposed of in a covered receptacle
  • Gloves will be removed and a new, clean diaper will be applied as well as any cream or powder
  • Staff will wash their hands and child's hands
  • Diaper area will be disinfected with Clorox wipes
  • Changing paper will be replaced
  • Staff will again wash their hands and dry with a paper towel

Toileting Plan

  • Children will be brought to the bathroom during our designated bathroom times, and when individually needed as expressed by the child
  • Children will be observed while using this bathroom, and assisted until fully independent while toileting
  • Staff assisting children using the bathroom are required to use protective gloves
  • Both children and staff will wash hands after toilet time. Any soiled protective gloves will be put in a plastic bag prior to being placed in a covered receptacle.

Operating Policy

Hours of Operation: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Closures and Vacations: The center will be closed on the following days

  • Presidents Day + Day after
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving and the following day
  • Christmas Eve through New Year's Day

Educational Program Plan

Children will have the opportunity to express their own ideas and feelings through creative experiences in all parts of the program, including but not limited to:

  • Arts and media
  • Dramatic Play

  • Language Learning Experiences
  • Exploration and Discovery
  • Individual and small group activities
  • Active and quiet play
  • Rest, sleep, or quiet activity

What to bring to SPARK

For infants, we ask that you provide the following items for your child:

  • Two complete changes of clothes
  • Two crib blankets
  • Two fitted crib sheets
  • Two Pacifiers (if your child uses them)
  • One week (or more) supply of diapers
  • Wipes and any powders or creams to be used
  • Daily supply of bottles/food
  • Two or more bibs
  • Feeding spoons

What to bring to SPARK

For toddlers, we ask that you provide the following items:

  • Two complete changes of clothes
  • Two cot sheets (fitted crib sheet)/two small blankets
  • Small toy for napping (optional)
  • Very small pillow
  • Weeks supply of diapers (until potty-trained)
  • Wipes and any powders or creams to be used
  • **For Pre-K, simply bring a small pillow, and a toy for napping (optional)**
